Traditional O’odham Agriculture at Mission Garden

Saturday, August 20, 8am - Noon (Every Third Saturday!)

FREE, with $5 suggested donation upon entering the garden

August Topic: O'odham 60-day Corn

In this month's Traditional O'odham Agriculture presentation Mission Garden's Maegan Lopez and Ajo CSA's Sterling Johnson will talk about the traditional O'odham 60-day corn. They will demonstrate harvesting it and talk about how to prepare and save the seeds to plant next year.

There will be tastings with 60 day corn, figs, and u'am (yellow) meloñ. And there also will be an exploration of monsoon edibles all around the garden.

Come and take in the sensory experience of luxuriant summer crops and how they're seen through the lens of the O'odham language and culture.

By attending this event every month you will get the full sweep of seasonal agricultural practices. These presentations are free with the suggested $5 per person donation when you enter Mission Garden.
