WATERS OF THE DIASPORA: AFRICAN DRUM, GARDEN & COMMUNITY SERIES
On the Spring Equinox, when day and night stand in perfect balance, Mission Garden will host its second African Drum & Water Libation Ceremony led by Kevin and Tanishia Hamilton of Southwest Soul Circuit.

Agave Heritage Festival: Agave Planting
Be part of history and the future! Join us at Mission Garden to plant agave in the traditional Hohokam style, inspired by ancient plantings on Tumamoc Hill. These agave plants will provide food for bat pollinators and may even become roasted at a future festival.

Sean has dedicated his career to supporting and promoting Indigenous food systems and Native food sovereignty. In 2017, Sean published his first book with author Beth Dooley, The Sioux Chef’s Indigenous Kitchen, which received the James Beard Award for Best American Cookbook.

Mission Garden has heritage fruit trees of many varieties. Have you ever wondered how to grow new heritage fruit trees in your own yard? In this workshop Jesús García teaches how to clone fruit trees using cuttings of trees from the Garden.
Southwest Silversmithing Workshop
Join Mission Garden Artist in Residence Shane Beeshligaii for a hands-on workshop on silversmithing. Participants will take inspiration from plant life in Mission Garden to make sand-casted jewelry.

Native American Arts Fair 2025
Mission Garden invites the community to celebrate Indigenous creativity, culture, and tradition at the 2025 Native American Arts Fair on November 8 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event will feature Indigenous artists and makers from throughout the region, offering original works for sale including jewelry, art, and handcrafted goods.

Dragonfly Day at Mission Garden
The Mission Garden acequia (irregation canal) runs through the garden, mirroring an ancient canal once used by Hohokam farmers. Soon after we installed the acequia, dragonflies and damselflies returned to our garden. Come celebrate these fascinating creatures with Dragonfly Day at Mission Garden, part of the larger Dragonfly Festival! Family friendly and open to all, no prior knowledge required!
Guided tours and recorded workshops are also available.
