Bernice Rodriguez

 
 

Bernice is an undergraduate student in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona and is on track to complete her bachelor’s degree in Spring 2025. She currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Indigenous Resilience Center where she supports implementation and activities for the Native FEWS (Food, Energy & Water Systems) Alliance and the Indigenous Healthy Homes Project in partnership with the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board and the Albuquerque Area Southwest Tribal Epidemiology Center under the National Institutes of Health.

Bernice is a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and has valuable experience in budget oversight and program coordination from her work with various departments in the New Pascua community as well as her support of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Department at the University of Arizona. Through her internship with the Mission Garden, Bernice is excited to deepen her understanding of Indigenous agricultural practices, food sovereignty, and community-based health initiatives that connect cultural heritage to environmental and public health resilience.
