Looking for something special to do over the holidays? Come learn how to cook with quince, a forgotten fruit that grows well in Tucson and at Mission Garden.

This class will cover the basics of making quince jam and using quince in other sweet and savory dishes. You will also learn origins and history of quince trees and fruit and use through the centuries.

The techniques you will learn for making quince jam are transferable to other fruit jams.

The class will give you

  • Recipes for jam, and baked goods

  • A small jar of jam to take home

  • Enough quince fruit to make a batch of jam at home

  • Refreshments including a quince empanada, a slice of quince torte.

Sign up with a family member or holiday guest and make quince jam together!

The class will be taught by Carolyn Niethammer, local food writer and jam expert. After the class Carolyn’s books on local food and cooking will be on sale in our Garden Shop.
